December Book It Results

Our Book It participation for December took a dip, down from 80% to 64%. As much as we know about the continued practice of reading and how it improves our vocabulary, imagination, general knowledge, and over-all intelligence, let's set our goal at 100%. Parents, do you want your child to do better in school, learn more, and get more out of reading? Just encourage and set aside time for MORE reading!

November Book It! Results

We had 80% of our fifth grade students complete the 325 minutes of reading for November! As much as we know about the continued practice of reading and how it improves our vocabulary, imagination, general knowledge, and over-all intelligence, why are we not at 100%? Parents, do you want your child to do better in school, learn more, and get more out of reading? Just encourage MORE reading! Let's get 100% for December!

BOOK IT! Begins October 1!

Our annual BOOK IT! program begins October 1. Parents, for more information, please review the parent letter at: http://www.bookitprogram.com/teachers/0809/reproducibles/08BIParentLetter.pdf. Students were sent home with a "By the Minute Reading Log" sheet that they are to use to track their reading minutes. Students should be sure to add their silent reading time from class to these sheets. Each student who returns a signed sheet totaling at least 200 minutes on or before November 3 will receive a Reading Award certificate, entitling that student to a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza to celebrate their reading accomplishment. Each student who fulfills the requirements for all six months of the BOOK IT! program will receive an All-Star Reader voucher. Happy reading!
