Book orders

I sent home book orders today for those who want them. There are 3 different forms. You can order from one, two, or all three and still write just one check, made out to "Scholastic Book Clubs."
Or you can send the exact amount of cash in an envelope with the order and the child's name on it.
Book orders are due Friday, Sept. 23. Mrs. Johnson is doing this, so ask her if you have any questions.

Good Friday

Greetings!

I forgot to mention to the students that they are welcome to bring a lunch to school tomorrow. We dismiss at 11:55 and they will have a brief study time before that at which they could eat their lunch.

God's blessings!

Camp Phillip

Dear Parents,

There will be 9 students per adult chaperon in each cabin. The cabins have flush toilets and bunk beds. We plan on leaving at 8:30 and should arrive around 11:00. There will be a brief orientation before our sack lunch. After lunch we will prepare for the ropes course. The 5/6th grades will be doing the low ropes course and the 7/8th will be doing the high ropes. If they choose not to climb they will be there to encourage others and observe. We will also participate in outdoor games such as Pall Ball and disc golf. After dinner there will be geo caching and Bible study, campfire, sing a long and bedtime (10:00). In the morning after breakfast we will clean the cabins and have time for a game or two before packing up and returning to St. Jacobi. Camp Phillip asks that no electronics be brought along (except for a camera). The chaperones will have phones in case you need to reach us. I am asking chaperones to car pool if possible to carry bedding, luggage and our sack lunches. If you are willing to drive please let me know so I can help with the car pool list. If you have any other questions please contact me at school (425-2040) or home (427-6153)

Our goals for camp are to develop a stronger faith, encourage cooperation and teamwork and enjoy Gods creation. We look forward to a great trip.

T-shirts and Garbage Cans

The students in grades 5-8 will be performing a musical/drama extravaganza. The costuming for most students will be rather simple. They will need to wear nice jeans, no holes or tears, as well as a T-shirt. The T-shirt should be the color of their Kickball Kickoff/Track & Field team color. The T-shirt should be a solid color with no printing on it. If your child needs one, JoAnne Fabrics has colored T-shirts for around $5. Students should have their T-shirts at school on Monday, April 11th.

Also, one of the acts needs 7 clean metal garbage cans. They will be hit with drumsticks. Are you willing to donate or loan us one(or more)?

Thank you for your help and cooperation,

Mr. Frisque & Mrs. Prekop

Science fair info

Because the students in grades 3-5 are doing their science fair projects for the first time at home, and because there seemed to be a lot of questions last year about the social studies fair, the teachers of grades 3-5 will be hosting an hour of science fair questions and answers. This event will be held in the MPR on Thursday, February 17 from 7-8. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students. This is a sample of the type of questions that will be answered:

Do I need a backdrop?
Do I need a report?
When should I start?
Where can I get ideas?
How much help should a parent give?

And any other questions YOU may think of. There will be a brief presentation by the teachers followed by questions from parents and students. There will also be sample science fair projects for you to look at. If you do not have many questions, you need not stay for the whole hour. See you then!

Memory Work

Parents,

When helping your child with memory work please refer to what your child has written in their assignment notebooks not the sheet that was sent home at the beginning of the year.

We are off the schedule by a week and have made a few changes as well.  The hymnology schedule is still on track.

Just a reminder, your child should be reciting their memory work to you each night.

Thanks for your time and help!

If any of you have extra sets of working, white Christmas lights that we could use in the fifth grade classroom please send them to school with your son or daughter.  If you're interested in donating some lights please call or email me.

Sing in Church

Fifth grade is scheduled to sing at the 8:15 service on Sunday, December 5. We are practicing hymn 16 for this. Before I decide to try doing anything fancy, I would like to know how many singers I can count on. Last time we tried playing chimes and had to do some last minute changes because so many couldn't be there. If your child is unable to be there, please send a note ASAP.
Thanks!

Jr. Choir - Thank You

I would like to thank all the parents who made the extra effort to bring their children to church early for warm-ups and to sing in second service. I feel the song went well. Next time, I will need some help in the balcony with monitoring students' behavior.

God bless your week!

Field Trip to Wisco

On October 15th, the 5th and 6th grade students will be attending the Marching Band Field Show at WISCO.  The show is from 10:00-10:45.  We could use some chaperons.  If you are interested, please let Mr. Albrecht know by this Friday, October 1st.  We need to let WISCO know how many people will be attending.

Because of limited space on the bus, some chaperons may have to drive.  We will be leaving St. Jacobi at 9:25 am.

Thanks!  Come and enjoy the morning at WISCO!

Singing

We had a small and nervous group to sing in church on Sunday, but they did well. Thanks to all who made the effort to be there, even Dylan! The ringers also did very well. To God be the glory!
